GameSend’s “Pick of the week” June 23rd, 2011

This AMV has been chosen as our pick of the week, and will be featured on GameSend-Station as our “Opening Play” for 1 week!

GameSend is always meeting new talent- world wide, but we recently happened upon a singer/songwriter that goes by the name Laura Warwick. After reviewing her work, we feel that her talent is good enough to be in the mainstream. If we could help with that, then we would, but we are small. Hopefully she will be making music videos before you know it. We are surprised that with talent like this- she hasn’t been on television. We give her all the luck in the world and hope that -no matter what- she will continue to strive to be heard.

Simple and Soulful Music that will wash through the world and through the ages. GameSend highly recommends this new talent to anyone with tastes in Alternative/Rock/Blues/R&B Music. There is such a wide variety of sounds, and styles in this video and many others posted by her. GameSend promotes Unique, Eclectic, & Nostalgic music, and Laura takes the first two categories.

“Simply Awesome- If you don’t hear this music, then you are seriously missing out!”—LeosOfLight/GameSend—

We were working on getting some more video content in GameSend-Station one day, and we stumbled upon a channel that is not unlike our own called singerandasong!

We recommend “ingerandasong” for some truly awesome design and content!

Dream Aria written interview!

Sunday, June 12th, 2011

Written interview with Don Stagg of Dream Aria

How did you guys come up with the band name?
Ann came up with the name Dream Aria  and we all liked it right away.

Dream: A succession of images, thoughts, or emotions passing through the mind during sleep. An involuntary vision occurring to a person when awake. A vision voluntarily indulged in while awake: daydream, reverie something of an unreal beauty, charm or excellence.

Aria: A lyrical song for a solo voice with orchestral accompaniment, generally expressing intense emotion. It’s found in opera. A deep harmony passage. The vocal-singing expression for a solo singer, adding chorus and instruments based on lyric and/or dramatic and poetic narrative.

What genre of music do you consider your work to be?
WOW! We are a multi-genre band so really we cross a lot of lines – rock, goth, heavy metal, hard rock/world, ambient, opera, classical, pop and prog rock.

Who are your major influences?
Our influences include early Genesis, Yes, ELP, world music, classical , today I like Porcupine Tree.

Could you briefly describe your music-making process?
A lot of times I have a visual in my head and I start composing the song with the visuals. – eg. for Winter Storm – In the Winter of 1942 there was a German offensive sent to relieve the 6th army forces during the Battle of Stalingrad. This was one of the turning points in the war, this frozen hell was where many young Germans and Russians gave their lives  for their country with only a Christmas Day stopping  the killing.

In the end Germans mounted an effort reminiscent of the Charge of the Light Brigade, only to find themselves In the Valley of Death. They called this mission  Operation Winter Storm.

What has been your biggest challenge as a band?
To get signed by a record label, I am not sure why it has not happened for us yet, some days we are the top unsigned band on the myspace charts. We have been played on over 600 radio stations and have received many great reviews in printed and non printed magazines around the world. Our live shows have also received great reviews so I am not sure what else we can do.

What has been your biggest moment so far?
There has been a few, a well known DJ from the states flew up to interview us a couple years back, also a magazine owner from the UK flew into Toronto to do a article on us.

How long have you all known each other? How did you meet?
I met Garry about 10 years ago, Ann I met 7 years ago and I have known Jon for about 4 years. I met Garry through a good friend and Ann I found on the internet.

Who writes your songs?
I wrote all of our first CD – In the Wake, our second CD, Transcend, was mostly written by myself while Ann wrote all the lyrics and Garry wrote Rebecca and helped write The Rhythm of Now as well as arranging The Flower Duet that was written over 100 years ago by Leo Delibes. As for our newest CD, Ann wrote most of the lyrics, Jon wrote The Gift, Garry wrote Abstract Relations, Tale of Two Wolves and he also helped write Fallen Angel and Gypsy Heart. I wrote the rest.

What are your rehearsals generally like? Do you have a set time each week in which you practice or are rehearsals more spontaneous?
We just finished Fallen Angel so now we will need to go into rehearsal so we can start to play live again.

Who is the biggest party animal?
LOL thats a close one between Garry and myself.

What advice do you have for people wanting to make it in the music industry?
Don’t take advice from us LOL!

GameSend Post: Letter to Wikipedia after they “claimed” that we were advertising on their site! Believe us when we say- that if we wanted to advertise- we would do it on our 12 different websites!!!

We thought that Wikipedia was a place to “DESCRIBE” our website/company “NOT PROMOTE IT!!!”. We know that you will review this page before you post it, and we don’t care if you post it or not because we will be cancelling our account as soon as possible.

We wanted people to be able to visit this page and get a description or summery of our company! We did not understand that we were not supposed to put in external links, as your warnings to this suck!

“By clicking the “Save Page” button, you agree to the Terms of Use, and you irrevocably agree to release your contribution under the CC-BY-SA 3.0 License and the GFDL. You agree that a hyperlink or URL is sufficient attribution under the Creative Commons license.”

Why don’t you try giving people instructions that they can understand. Do we need to hire a lawyer just to figure out how to properly insert a page onto this platform? We don’t understand why you don’t make your rules clear “ON THIS PAGE” not a link that lead to a confusing in-depth rule page. Try describing it so that “THE COMMON PERSON” can understand it!

So what! You are a MEGA-COMPANY!!! If you do not make this easier on the common person, then they will simply use your uprising competitors. Don’t develop an ego simply because you are big! Us little companies could (in 10 years or so) be as big or bigger than MicroSoft and do you think we will be telling people GOOD things about Wikipedia?

We have NO PROBLEM complying with your rules IF YOU MADE THEM CLEAR, before we spent our time posting something that would just be deleted!~

Since your company will most likely just read this and laugh- we will be posting this EXACT letter on several other sites!

  • Description taken from “Live & Loud”:

  • THE SOUND OF KENELIS is a combination of Grunge, Punk and Anthemic Shoegaze all fused together in a big pot of Rock! Comparisons have included the raw angst of Hole, vulnerability of Placebo and diversity of Radiohead. Kenelis are constantly developing their sound and are known for experimenting with different time signatures and song structures, whilst staying true to creating unpretentious memorable rock music.

GameSend fully recommends this amazing hardcore rock/punk band from the U.K.-“Kenalis”. The music by itself is awesome, but combined with Mel Sanson’s Vocal Talent it is freaking astounding! If there is one thing that you should do this year, it’s buy their album! Believe us when we say that you wont regret it!!!!

GameSend recently ran across some really unique, eclectic indie music from “The Epic Weatherman”. We always promote unique people, and music, but this guy is of a completely undefinable genera of music! Every song is of a different sound, or style of music. We think that “The Epic Weatherman” described it best with the description that he posted on FaceBook, that we will repost below…

The Epic Weatherman (Colin Bovberg) is a solo act out of Colorado Springs. His music styles vary from ambient electronic to pop to alternative to jazz to techno… he likes exploring the whole spectrum. Whatever style you’re into, chances are he’ll have at least a song or two you’ll dig. His influences are many… bands like Radiohead, Modest Mouse, Sneaker Pimps and Beck are among his absolute favorites. He also enjoys Avant-Garde artists and ambient jazz.
